India has achieved unprecedented growth in rice production, producing around 150 million tonnes in 2024-25 from nearly 47 million hectares, accounting for approximately 28% of global output. In FY 2024-25, India exported 20.1 million metric tonnes of rice valued at approximately USD 12.95 billion, reaching more than 172 countries. September 2025 saw rice exports surge by 33.18% to USD 925 million, with April-September exports up 10% to USD 5.63 billion, demonstrating strong international demand despite global price pressures.
