India's rice export policy includes selling over 20 million tonnes from government reserves to support price competitiveness globally. This will include 2.5 million tonnes of 25% broken rice, 5 million tonnes of 10% broken rice through e-auction, 3.6 million tonnes to states at Rs 22,500/tonnes, and 5.2 million tonnes to ethanol distilleries.
The rice procurement target for 2025-26 is set at 46.34 million tonnes, which is 4.45% lower than the previous season's 48.5 million tonnes target, though actual procurement in 2024-25 exceeded the target at 51.5 million tonnes.
