Breaking News: Bharat International Rice Conference 2025 – Historic Milestone for India's Rice Sector

India has reached a historic milestone in its agricultural diplomacy with the launch of the Bharat International Rice Conference (BIRC) 2025, held on October 30-31, 2025, at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi. This represents the most significant global platform ever organized by the Indian rice industry, with approximately 7,800 participants on the first day alone, including delegates from over 80 nations, international importers, exporters, scientists, and policymakers.

Key Conference Highlights and Strategic Announcements:

The conference unveiled India's first AI-based rice sorting system, marking a technological breakthrough in precision agriculture and rice processing. Seventeen Indian farmers were felicitated by international importers for their contributions to quality, innovation, and sustainability in rice cultivation. These initiatives underscore India's commitment to combining technology advancement with farmer recognition in the global rice trade.

On Day 1, the conference facilitated the signing of MoUs worth over Rs 3,000 crore, with Rs 2,200 crore alone allocated by the government for Geographical Indication (GI) rice varieties such as Katarni rice from Bihar. This represents a significant push toward premium variety exports and value-addition in the rice trade.
