Google has launched Agricultural Monitoring and Event Detection (AMED) in July 2025, providing dynamic insights into field-level operations. AMED can identify current crops, calculate field acreage, and track key agricultural events including sowing and harvesting dates with data refreshed every 15 days, enabling near real-time monitoring. This technology, powered by satellite imagery and machine learning, is unlocking unprecedented datasets previously unavailable to smallholder farmers, particularly in India and Asia.
